The White Hart Tea Room is to go pancake crazy in a couple of weeks.
Join us between 10 – 2pm on Tuesday 9th February for a pancake and a drink for just £1.50.
Our volunteers will be cooking up the tasty treats with orange, lemon or chocolate spread. Come and have one for breakfast, lunch or afternoon snack.
We are at the bottom of Long Street in Atherstone. The 9th sees the return of the popular ball game in the town.
Centre Manager Martin Horner says “It would be great if people visiting the town for the event pop down and see us. Our volunteers are keen to serve people and this is one of our most popular events of the year”
The White Hart Tea Room is a volunteer run venture offering volunteering opportunities to people from all backgrounds.
Volunteers regularly give up their time to serve customers and bake cakes. They are given the opportunity to complete food hygiene and customer service training. Over five volunteers in the last year have used their experiences volunteering to gain employment.
The Volunteer Centre also runs a weekly job club. Trained volunteers run it and people who help in the tea rooms can get help putting their CV together and advised on how to use their volunteering to help them apply for food industry related jobs.
Martin added “Our volunteers are great, we try to support them in as many ways as we can. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and give yourself some experience if you have a few gaps on your CV. Some people come because they want to meet like-minded people and get out of the house.
The Volunteer Centre also supports a volunteer catering team who help make buffets for the outside catering arm of the White Hart Tea Room. Buffet menus start from three pound a person.
